Actor Julian McMahon has died at the age of 56. The information was revealed by his wife to the publication Deadline, this Thursday.
According to a statement sent to the publication, the actor died on Tuesday, July 2.
"With an open heart, I want to share with the world that my beloved husband, Julian McMahon, passed away peacefully this week after a valiant battle to beat cancer," she announced.
Wife Kelly McMahon explains that Julian McMahon died in Clearwater, Florida.
"Julian loved life. He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his work and he loved his fans. His deepest desire was to bring joy to as many lives as possible," the statement reads, which also asks for "privacy" during this time of mourning.
"And we hope that all those to whom Julian brought joy continue to find joy in life. We are grateful for the memories," his wife concluded.
McMahon was born on July 27, 1968 in Sydney, Australia and began her career as a model. It was when she starred in an Australian soap opera, 'The Power', that she took her first steps into acting, in 1989.
After the success of her first soap opera, she made a second, longer one, and then moved on to the big screen, with the Australian-American film 'Wet and Wild Summer!', in which she starred alongside Elliott Gould.
It was there, in 1992, that he moved to Hollywood and began his American career in the same way he had begun his Australian one: with a soap opera. Successful, he ended up joining the series 'Bewitched', where he played the antagonist Cole Turner.
It was then with the series 'Nip/Tuck' that he was nominated for a Golden Globe, and he also appeared in 'FBI: Most Wanted' in 2020, leaving two years later and after three seasons. He also participated in 'Fantastic Four'.
McMahon has been in films such as 'Final Destination' or 'A Turning Point'.
His latest role was in the Netflix series 'The Residence', in which he played the Australian Prime Minister, 'returning' to his roots, as his father, Billy McMahon, held the position off-screen from 1971 to 1972.
