Katy Perry in Curitiba: search generates confusion and record sellout

Ticket sales for Katy Perry 's "The Lifetimes Tour" caused a stir among the artist's fans this Friday (06). The tickets were made available by the Livepass platform and, unexpectedly, sold out in just a few minutes. According to reports on social media, there was not even enough time to complete the purchase process.
"My virtual queue started at 12:02 to buy tickets for Katy Perry's show in Curitiba, and everything was already sold out. This is impossible, there's no way," commented a user on the social network X. Another also said ironically: "Katy Perry put two half-price tickets in the batch. It's not possible. It sold out in 1 minute."
The artist, who last performed in Brazil at Rock in Rio 2024, will perform two shows in the country: one in Curitiba, scheduled for September 16, and another in Brasília, on September 19. The return to the Brazilian stage has sparked enormous expectations, especially since the singer has not performed a solo tour in the country since 2018.
Riot at the physical box office
While online sales proved chaotic, in-person distribution also presented difficulties. In Curitiba, the intense demand caused chaos in the queue set up at Arena da Baixada.
The confusion gained repercussion after the sharing of videos in which two of the singer's fans verbally and physically attacked each other upon receiving the news that physical tickets were no longer available.
The disagreement among those present was caused by frustration with the tickets selling out in less than 10 minutes at the local box office. The scene caused bewilderment among the others, who were patiently waiting to buy their tickets.

Reactions on social media and lack of clarification
The negative repercussions of the sale led to a series of criticisms of the organization. In the posts made by fans, the predominant feeling was one of disbelief at the speed with which the tickets disappeared from the platforms. So far, the team responsible for the tour and the Livepass platform have not issued an official statement clarifying the release criteria and the number of lots offered.
This frustrating scenario, in fact, reignited debates about transparency in large-scale events and highlighted, once again, the challenges faced by audiences at shows by international artists in Brazil.
