It’s time to get in formation and start a celebratory march, because Camp Rock 3 is officially on the way. The Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato, who starred in the first two Disney Channel hits, are producing the next film. Joe, Nick, and Kevin Jonas will make guest appearances, too. Disney announced the news on September 17, a month after Lovato and the Jonases reunited onstage for the brothers’ latest tour.

The surprise comes 15 years after the last Camp Rock sequel. And production on the new film had already begun. Here’s what else to know.

The Jonas Brothers will reprise their roles as guest stars in the new film: Joe Jonas as Shane Gray, Nick as Nate Gray, and Kevin as Jason Gray (a.k.a. the members of the band Connect 3).

It’s unclear whether Lovato will reprise her role as Mitchie Torres, as she was not listed as a cast member or guest star in Disney’s announcement. She and the Jonases, however, will executive produce the film. Maria Canals-Barrera, who played Mitchie’s mother, Connie, is confirmed to return as well.

The film will feature several new stars: Liamani Segura (Descendants: Wicked Wonderland) as Sage, a “bold and determined” camper; Malachi Barton (ZOMBIES 4: Dawn of the Vampires) as the bad boy, Fletch; Lumi Pollack (Electric Bloom) as cellist Rosie; Hudson Stone as Desi, Sage’s brother; Casey Trotter (The Thundermans) as Cliff, Brooklynn Pitts as choreographer Callie; and Ava Jean as influencer Madison.

Sherry Cola (Joyride) is also joining the cast as a character named Lark.

Alyson Stoner, who played Caitlyn in the first two movies, will not return for Camp Rock 3. Stoner told E! that they “haven’t heard anything” beyond the film’s announcement. “But that sounds exciting,” they added.

Stoner also speculated about the movie’s plot. “I’m guessing it’ll be maybe similar to what they did with High School Musical, where maybe they introduce a new generation. That’s what I’m assuming. But cool. Sounds great.”

When asked if they would return if asked, Stoner said, “Let me know if you need a coordinator on set.”

There is no release date set yet, but the film will eventually land on Disney+ and Disney Channel. According to the September 17 announcement, filming had already begun in Vancouver.

According to Disney’s synopsis:

“The story picks up when Connect 3 lose their opening act for a major reunion tour, returning to their beloved Camp Rock to discover the next big thing. As campers vie for the chance to open for their favorite band, tensions rise and friendships are tested, leading to unexpected alliances, revelations and romances.”

The Slumber Party’s director Veronica Rodriguez will helm Camp Rock 3, and screenwriter Eydie Faye will pen the script. Jamal Sims will choreograph.

Along with Lovato and the Jonas trio, other producers include Tim Federle, Betsy Sullenger, Spencer Berman, and Gary Marsh.

The first two installments are both streaming on Disney+. Catch up on the films below before the third one debuts.
