One of the main highlights of the soap opera "Guerreiros do Sol", shown on Globoplay , actressIsadora Cruz was hospitalized with acute pyelonephritis during the filming , which took place two years ago. In a recent interview with the newspaper O Globo, the star attributed the illness to the intensity of the scenes in the soap opera .

"My body felt like I was on a battlefield, living in a war, because I was constantly losing people, experiencing mourning and killing people. Even though the blood was fake, the emotion was real. So, it turned out that the bacteria went up to the kidney," said Isadora.

Pyelonephritis is an infectious inflammatory disease that is often caused by bacteria that travel from the bladder to the kidneys . "It affects the renal parenchyma, where the functional structures that produce urine are located, and the renal pelvis, the dilated portion of the kidney. The bacteria enter the body through the urethra, reach the bladder, travel up the ureters and settle in one or both kidneys, compromising their function," says Dr. Caroline Reigada, a nephrologist and specialist in Internal Medicine, in a press release.

Pyelonephritis can be acute, when it appears without any prior explanation, or chronic, when it is related to underlying causes such as diabetes or staghorn stones.
