Woman gives birth at PSP police station

A woman gave birth this Monday at the PSP police station in Rio de Mouro, in the municipality of Sintra, after going into labor on board a TVDE, confirmed the PSP Metropolitan Command in a statement sent to the media.
According to the note, the incident occurred “around 7:00 am”, when a pregnant woman, about to go into labor, was traveling to the hospital in a TVDE — individual transport equivalent to a taxi, but in unmarked cars, ordered through applications such as Uber and Bolt.
At one point, the pregnant woman “warned the driver that she could no longer make it to the hospital,” explains the PSP. “As a result, the driver stopped the vehicle near the 89th Police Station — Rio de Mouro — and they both went inside the police station where they contacted two police officers asking for help.”
“Upon realizing that the baby was about to be born, the police provided all possible support, taking into account the circumstances, and activated emergency services via 112,” the PSP statement also said.
“After the baby was born, in the entrance hall of the Police Station, the Volunteer Firefighters from Agualva-Cacém arrived and clamped and cut the umbilical cord, and then transported the mother and the newborn to the Fernando da Fonseca Hospital”, added the police, who also scheduled a press conference to reveal more details about the case.
