Bolsonaro's defense asks for new postponement of witness hearings

Lawyers for former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) filed a new request , this Friday (16), for Minister Alexandre de Moraes , of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), to postpone the statements in the criminal action that investigates an alleged coup attempt after the 2022 elections.
The argument is that the amount of evidence in the case is very large and there are technical difficulties in downloading all the material. The request is signed by lawyer Celso Vilardi.
The hearings of witnesses from group 1 , which would be responsible for leading the coup plot , are scheduled to begin on Monday (19).
According to the defense, this week, the Federal Police (PF) made available three links with a volume of 40 terabytes of evidence.
“In a simple calculation, considering an internet speed of 500 Mbps [megabytes], just downloading the compressed files would take almost 178 hours of uninterrupted work. More than a week. Therefore, effective access to the evidentiary material inserted in the links will only be possible after the hearings have begun ,” says an excerpt from the request.
This is the second time that Bolsonaro 's defense has tried to postpone the statements. On Tuesday (13), the lawyers had already stated that they had not had access to all the material produced by the investigation and that they could only speak out after analyzing the evidence.
