Blue tongue. Applications for support close

The application period for global support of 1.9 million euros for sheep owners, with income losses of less than 30% due to bluetongue disease, ends this Friday.
On May 9, the government announced an extension of the deadline until this Friday. The Ministry of Agriculture confirmed to Lusa that this limit will not be extended again. The support is intended for sheep owners with income losses of less than 30%. The aid is 48 euros per dead sheep, registered in the SNIRA (National Animal Information and Registration System) and the total allocation is 1.9 million euros.
In addition to having recorded production losses of less than 30% and having the animals registered in the SNIRA, beneficiaries must be legally constituted and have reported the death of the sheep, which occurred between September 5, 2024 and January 16, 2025. Applications are submitted on the IFAP portal, by filling out a form.
Bluetongue or catarrhal fever is a viral disease, subject to mandatory notification, that affects ruminants and is not transmissible to humans.
