Alex sets a goal for Operário and begins his experience as a coach in Paraná football

Alex , an idol of Coritiba , has started his first job as a coach in Paraná football. The former midfielder has taken charge of Operário , the current champion of the Campeonato Paranaense, but which is currently experiencing a slump in Série B.

Fantasma has not won in five games, four in Série B and one in Copa do Brasil, and is close to the relegation zone to the third division. The coach's debut will be next Monday (23), at 7 pm, against Novorizontino, at Germano Krüger, in Ponta Grossa.

“The main thing today is to restore the players’ confidence. When you have negative results, especially against Remo and Athletic, in addition to Vasco’s defeat in the Copa do Brasil, confidence diminishes. When the coaching staff changes, something changes in the group of players. We have to take advantage of this so that the players can seek the greatest moment of confidence”, highlighted Alex.

In his fourth job as a coach in his career, Alex compared himself to the Operário project. The coach is looking to boost his career, which is still in its early stages, while Fantasma wants to rise to the elite of Brazilian football for the first time.

“I am a coach just starting out in my career and I intend to do what I did in my playing career. They want to go up and up and reach the highest level, which is Série A. When the stories come together, we will try to do a good job,” highlighted the Operário coach.

Current Paraná champion, Operário failed to maintain its momentum in Série B and only collected 14 points in 12 rounds. Fantasma is only in 15th place, two points above Botafogo-SP, the first team in the relegation zone.

Despite the campaign below expectations, the president of the Management Group, Álvaro Góes, believes in the unprecedented access to the Série A. “I don't compete in anything without winning. Alex will have the fourth experience as a coach in his career. The former player has already worked for São Paulo's under-20s, Avaí and Antalyaspor in Turkey. He left the Turkish club in January of this year due to problems with unpaid salaries.

At Avaí, Alex had the only job at a club in the Brazilian Championship's Série B. The coach worked in only four games in the second division and was fired after one win and three losses.

Along with Alex, Operário hired assistant José Roberto Lucini, who was in charge of Paraná Clube's under-20 team. Tricolor announced the professional's departure “to work as an assistant coach for a club in the Brazilian Championship's Série B”. The two worked together at Antalyaspor.
