Algarve Open Water Circuit to cross the region in August

The Algarve Open Water Circuit, the oldest open water swimming circuit in Portugal, is back this summer for another edition full of excitement, tradition and sport in the heart of nature.

In this sense, between the 3rd and 24th of August, the circuit will cross the Algarve from Portimão to Castro Marim, with events in several iconic points of the region, reinforcing the connection between sport, the sea and the Algarve identity.

With a strong sporting and tourist component, the circuit attracts hundreds of swimmers from all over the country and an increasing number of international athletes every year, promoting not only the practice of open sea swimming, but also active and sustainable tourism.

The 2025 edition has the official support of FATACIL – Lagoa Crafts, Tourism, Agriculture, Commerce and Industry Fair , one of the largest and most relevant events in the south of the country.

FATACIL, which takes place annually in August, represents the diversity and economic vitality of the region and joins the Algarve Open Water Circuit as an institutional partner, reinforcing its role in supporting sport and promoting Algarve culture.

«The Algarve Open Water Circuit continues to establish itself as a reference in the national sporting scene, providing a unique experience for athletes and spectators, in an environment of conviviality, overcoming and celebration of the sea», according to the organization.
