According to initial reports, the 27-year-old Argentine midfielder authorized his representatives to listen to proposals and expressed interest in seeking a new club. Flamengo then appeared as one of the possibilities. Internally, Corinthians has not ruled out selling the player during the mid-year transfer window, especially given the club's financial difficulties and current political context. After all, the sale could ease the club's cash flow and allow for a readjustment in planning for the rest of the season.

The São Paulo club, in fact, invested around 6 million dollars (R$ 30 million at the time) to acquire 80% of Garro's federation rights from Talleres, at the beginning of 2024. Since then, the Argentine has consolidated himself as a starter and gained prominence with good performances, despite having faced some injuries in 2025.

However, despite the interest and the movement behind the scenes, Corinthians' interim president, Osmar Stabile, was emphatic in stating that there is "no chance of selling Garro to Flamengo". According to him, there is no intention whatsoever of negotiating a player of Garro's caliber with a direct rival in Brazilian football. Journalist Jorge Nicola confirmed the information after contacting the director, emphasizing that the club is only working with the possibility of selling him abroad.

On the red-black side, there is also no concrete indication that the midfielder is in the immediate plans. According to the same journalist, Flamengo has other priorities in the market, such as the signing of Colombian Jorge Carrascal, currently at Dynamo Moscow.

The player's medical condition is another important factor. Garro suffers from patellar tendinopathy in his right knee, a chronic and degenerative condition. According to former Brazilian women's national team doctor Ana Paula Simões, this type of injury can recur and cause structural changes even after treatment. This requires careful evaluation by any club interested in signing the player in the medium or long term.

As the mid-year transfer window approaches — officially opening on July 10 and running until September 2 — Corinthians are trying to manage the situation of their number 8. Garro, in turn, has already shown discomfort with internal issues, having even previously requested a negotiation with Zenit, from Russia, which was denied by the club.

Therefore, despite the speculation, the transfer to Flamengo, at this moment, is considered unlikely by both Corinthians and Rio de Janeiro. The expectation now falls on possible offers from foreign clubs, which could change the course of the Argentine player in the coming weeks.
