Jorginho celebrates his debut for Flamengo: 'I felt at ease'

With good tactical and defensive application, Flamengo beat Espérance 2-0, this Monday (16), in the first round of group D of the Club World Cup. Making his debut on the night and with an assist, Jorginho highlighted the red-and-black victory and his first game wearing the Rio de Janeiro club's shirt. The midfielder, in fact, was the club's only reinforcement for the international competition.

"I already felt very good. My first impression is of a wonderful group of players who want to move in the same direction, with the same idea as now. I believe that we see football and my characteristics, they fit well. From here we can stay ahead, of course there is a lot to work on and to fit in more and more. But I am very happy with the first game and I felt very comfortable. Everything that happens certainly does not depend only on me, but on the availability of my teammates. And this issue of being within the agreed end is a characteristic of mine, that I am very much part of the team, and I do it with all my heart, but only to help. And their reception was very good", highlighted Jorginho in an interview with Sportv.

In total, the Italian midfielder played for 74 minutes against Espérance. He did not commit any fouls and suffered three, something that caused the Flamengo player to complain. In addition, the midfielder showed his calling card: 93% accuracy, 75% of which were in throws. All this in just over 100 actions with the ball.

Flamengo's next challenge

With this result, Flamengo shares the lead with Chelsea, with the same three points. In turn, Espérance is in fourth place with no points. Now, the teams focus on the second round. The Rubro-Negro, after all, faces the Blues, on Friday (20), at 3 pm (Brasília time), also in Philadelphia. On the other side, the Tunisian team, therefore, faces Los Angeles FC on the same day, at 7 pm (Brasília time), at Geodis Park.
