Ramalho and Pimenta are European champions in K2

Canoeists José Ramalho and Fernando Pimenta were crowned European K2 marathon champions today, the ninth podium for the Portuguese team in Ponte de Lima. The three-time K2 World Champion duo, who only made their European debut this year, won by completing the 29.8 kilometres in 02:01.57 hours, beating Hungarians Adrian Boros and Tamas Erdelyi by two seconds and Spaniards Miguel Llorens and Alberto Plaza by five. In this event, the other Portuguese duo, Francisco dos Santos and João Sousa, finished in seventh place. On Friday, Pimenta had already been crowned European champion in the short K1 race, of 3.4 kilometres, in which the bronze went to José Ramalho, who took silver on Saturday in the 29.8 kilometres of K1.
