The winner of the Ballon d'Or will be announced today.

Starting at 8:00 pm local time (7:00 pm in Lisbon), at the Théâtre du Châtelet, in Paris, the gala of the 69th edition of the most prestigious individual award in the sport will honor the elected athletes, based on their performance during the period from August 1, 2024 to July 13, 2025, in the men's category, and August 2, in the women's category.
Left-back Nuno Mendes and midfielders João Neves and Vitinha are among the nine representatives of the European and French champions PSG, the most prominent club in the 30 men's finalists, with nine nominees, against four from the Spanish champions FC Barcelona and three each from the English champions Liverpool and the also Spanish Real Madrid.
PSG also has Spaniard Luis Enrique in the running for the best coach award and could be named the best club of the season in men's football, and will also take to the field at the same time as they visit Marseille in the closing classic of the fifth round of Ligue 1, which was postponed from Sunday to today due to the forecast of a storm in the south of France.
The Portuguese I Liga is represented in the Ballon d'Or by Swedish striker Viktor Gyökeres, top scorer in the last two editions, who won the championship and the Portuguese Cup, allowing the 'lions' to retain their status as national champions after 71 years and achieve the 'double' 23 years later, before heading to English side Arsenal in the summer.
João Neves is also competing for the Kopa trophy, which recognizes the best under-21 player and in which he was placed sixth in 2023/24, being accompanied by striker Rodrigo Mora, from FC Porto, in one of the 13 distinctions awarded by France Football magazine and UEFA.
The gala will also feature the seventh edition of the women's Ballon d'Or, with the Spanish players Alexia Putellas, winner in 2021 and 2021/22, and Aitana Bonmatí, triumphant in 2022/23 and 2023/24, in contention, plus seven athletes from Arsenal, winner of the Champions League - three of whom were victorious at Euro2025 with England - in a universe of 30 candidates.
