Father and son win grappling tournament in Thailand

From February 22 to 23, the Aiga Asian Championship 2025 grappling tournament was held in Bangkok, Thailand, with the best athletes from Asia, including those from Kazakhstan, taking part.

Athletes from Beineu district Zhenis Kairanov and his son Erkebulan Islamgali demonstrated worthy results at the competition.

Erkebulan Islamgali became the champion in the age category of 15-17 years in the weight category up to 55 kilograms.

Zhenis Kairanov proved his experience and skill by taking first place in the weight category up to 60 kilograms among athletes over 20 years old.

Zhenis Kairanov and Yerkebulan Islamgali are athletes who leave their mark on the history of grappling, their victories are the fruits of labor and support based on family values. The sport, which has become a tradition for representatives of two generations, has become an example for other athletes in our region, the basis for a healthy lifestyle, and the popularization of sports, - the press service of the Beineu Akimat emphasized.

Earlier, wrestlers from Aktau won silver at the Kazakhstan Championship, and boxers from the regional center became prize winners at the tournament in Ekibastuz.
