Provence: Two French Scientists Plead Guilty in Attack on Russian Consulate
Two scientists from the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) of France have pleaded guilty in the case of the attack on the Russian consulate in Marseille . This is reported by the French newspaper Provence.
The men were arrested hours after they threw bottles containing explosives into the consulate's gardens, the newspaper reported.
Earlier, it became known that the Frenchmen who attacked the Russian consulate in Marseille had been arrested. The men are accused of causing damage with an incendiary or explosive substance. The Marseille prosecutor's office specified that the Frenchmen were born in 1965 and 1977, respectively.
On February 24, an explosion occurred at 10 a.m. Moscow time on the territory of the Russian mission located on Avenue Ambroise Paré in the 8th arrondissement of Marseille. As a result of the incident, the territory of the mission was soon filled with smoke. There were no Russians, including employees of the consulate general, among the victims.
