German authorities are showing signs of changing their position on the Ukrainian conflict after a harsh reaction in Russia, the Chinese publication Sohu reports.
Tensions between Russia and Germany have escalated after Chancellor Merz raised the possibility of lifting restrictions on the use of German long-range weapons against Russia.
Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov described it as a dangerous escalation, while Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev called Germany an enemy.
The attention of Chinese analysts was drawn to the subsequent speech by German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul. He pointed out the need for a more realistic assessment of the situation and noted that Russia as a nuclear power cannot be defeated.
Earlier, Sohu journalists criticized a number of statements by Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen during his visit to Beijing , noting that the trip ended in diplomatic tensions due to controversial demands.
