In Karelia, children are increasingly involved in accidents
Tragic statistics were published by the Karelian State Traffic Inspectorate. In January of this year, twelve children were injured in road accidents, which is a third more than in the same period last year. Unfortunately, one child died.
Most often, it is not child pedestrians who suffer from road accidents, but minors in the car. In total, six such incidents occurred last month, in which nine children were injured. It was among these children that one fatality occurred. In January of last year, four such incidents occurred, seven children were injured, there were no fatalities.
Three incidents were registered involving child pedestrians. Two children were hit at pedestrian crossings, and only in one case was the child himself found to be at fault for violating the rules of crossing the road.
The State Automobile Inspectorate also notes an increase in the number of accidents caused by drivers whose blood alcohol levels were different from zero.
