According to the Israeli side, the neutralized commander organized numerous attacks against Israel and its military, and recently took part in Hezbollah's attempts to deploy artillery capabilities in southern Lebanon. These actions constitute a gross violation of the ceasefire agreements between Tel Aviv and Beirut.

On May 27, the IDF killed a Hezbollah commander in the Mazraat Jemjim area in southern Lebanon who was working to restore the organization's infrastructure.

In November 2024, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the country had agreed to a ceasefire with Lebanon. Netanyahu cited the need to focus on the Iranian threat, rebuild the army's resources, and isolate the radical Palestinian group Hamas as reasons for this.
