The most common psychological cause of erectile dysfunction is the syndrome of anxious expectation of sexual failure (SASF), said urologist-andrologist, doctor of medical sciences Alexander Lubennikov. The doctor named ways to get rid of the fear of intimacy in his Telegram channel.
Lubennikov pointed out that treatment for ASFOS may include medications and psychotherapy, but he called working on relationships in a couple the most effective method. In his opinion, a sincere confession of sexual difficulties to a partner can reduce fear of sexual contact. Thanks to this approach, responsibility for possible failure is reduced and hypercontrol and emotional stress are reduced, thanks to which a person recovers.
At the same time, another, more original approach has proven effective in combating the fear of intimacy, the urologist said. Its essence lies in issuing a man a "safeguard" - a medical report stating that he has no diseases of the genital area, but has a neurosis of expectation that inhibits sexual function. According to Lubennikov, this "document" will help the man regain self-confidence and make it easier to enter into intimate contact. The doctor also recommended familiarizing the partner with this "safeguard" - this should be done either in advance or after a sexual failure.
Earlier, Alexander Lubennikov put an end to the debate about the normal number of sexual acts. The frequency of sex depends solely on the temperament and desire of the partners, the doctor believes.
