Novgorodians bring in up to 30 ticks daily, but there are also safe zones in the city

Spring has finally come into its own – the Novgorod Kremlin has become truly warm and green. Now it is especially pleasant to leisurely stroll along the ancient walls, sit in the shade of trees or simply admire the views. To make the rest exceptionally comfortable, specialists recently carried out a complete treatment of the territory of "Detinets" from ticks.

Meanwhile, the Office of Rospotrebnadzor for the Novgorod Region continues weekly monitoring of infections transmitted by tick bites.
As of May 21, a total of 1,311 people, including 332 children, have sought medical help for tick bites. Thus, over the past 2 weeks, the number of people bitten has increased by 390. It turns out that on average, 25-30 Novgorod residents or visitors to the region are "picked up" by ticks every day.
130 victims of tick bites, including 123 children, received emergency prophylaxis with anti-tick immunoglobulin.
Studies were conducted on 1,182 tick specimens removed from victims; tick-borne encephalitis virus was detected in 6 specimens (0.5%), systemic tick-borne borreliosis virus was detected in 135 specimens (30.2%), and human monocytic ehrlichiosis was detected in 15 specimens (3.4%).
The largest number of cases of attachment were registered in: the local area (32%), summer cottages and garden plots (33.7%), and forests (11.7%).
