Robots for all occasions

At the professions exhibition in Aktobe, the head of the region, Askhat SHAKHAROV, was surprised by his ability to program robots.
As part of the Year of Working Professions, a unique exhibition was held in the city. It brought together more than 20 enterprises of the region, 40 colleges and their social partners.
The regional akim who attended the event was pleasantly surprised by what he saw and managed to surprise those around him. He spoke English with foreign language teachers from local colleges. And so that those around him would not drop out of the conversation, he sometimes switched to Kazakh and Russian.
Meanwhile, at an open professional platform, he was presented with opportunities for cooperation between regional enterprises and educational institutions.
The akim stayed longer than anyone else in the pavilion of the European Higher College of Economics, Business and Law. There, Shakharov's attention was drawn to a robot dog and a humanoid robot. As is well known, ready-made remote controls are not sold for these pieces of iron. To put them into action, it is necessary to write separate programs - this is the whole difficulty. But the students of the EKEBP, where they teach programming, coped with this perfectly.
- After our students have programmed the robots, they can be used for service in hotels, to provide assistance to people with disabilities, and also in search and rescue operations, - noted the head of the EKEBP Talgat TUREMURATOV.
Kobdinsky Multidisciplinary College held master classes on wood processing for furniture making and gave beginners the opportunity to try their hand at turning skills. Shalkarsky Multidisciplinary College introduced schoolchildren to the technique of painting with wool and making felt products. Other colleges also demonstrated their best practices.
For schoolchildren, who were brought to the exhibition by bus for career guidance purposes, master classes were held on such working professions as turner, seamstress, hairdresser, driver, electrician and others.
The exhibition also included a job fair, where job seekers could see current offers from employers. Those interested were taught the basics of writing a resume, preparing for an interview, and were introduced to current trends in the labor market, employee rights, and employment conditions.
- As part of the Year of Working Professions announced by the President, we will equip 10 colleges with modern equipment, and we are currently preparing programs. We need to prepare students who will be competitive and in-demand specialists not only in our region, but throughout the world, - said Askhat Shakharov.
