Russian woman who abandoned baby in Turkish airport toilet to appeal verdict

Russian Ekaterina Burnashkina, convicted in Turkey for leaving her newborn daughter in the toilet of the Antalya airport, will appeal the verdict. This was reported by her lawyer Ayşegül Kübra Polat, REN TV reports.
Let us recall that on February 24, a Turkish court sentenced 18-year-old Burnashkina to 15 years in prison, finding her guilty of attempted murder of a close relative. The defense does not agree with the verdict.
The incident occurred on October 14, 2024. Burnashkina was in Turkey with her mother. The girl gave birth in an airport toilet and left the baby in the toilet. The baby was seen by a cleaning lady, and a criminal case was opened against Burnashkina.
The Russian woman claimed that she did not know about her pregnancy, and later expressed a desire to take the child to Russia.
