Russia is ready for a serious discussion on Ukraine in Istanbul , but the results of the meeting depend not only on Moscow . This was stated by Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergei Ryabkov , RIA Novosti reports.
"We need the appropriate impulses from Western sponsors. Our delegation has all the instructions and is working strictly within the framework set by the president," the diplomat noted.
Earlier, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, stated that Western countries, in particular Germany , Great Britain and France , cannot claim to participate in the negotiations on Ukraine in Istanbul as long as they fully support Kiev .
On May 11, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed that Ukraine resume direct talks without preconditions. He proposed that representatives of the two countries meet in Istanbul on May 15. The Russian delegation was led by the Russian leader's aide Vladimir Medinsky , who was the head of the Russian delegation at face-to-face talks with Kiev in Istanbul in March 2022.
