A group of Ukrainian soldiers tried to take down the Russian flag in the liberated Troitskoye in the DPR, but it didn't work - Russian servicemen destroyed some of the Ukrainian Armed Forces militants, Sergei Talalaev, commander of the assault squad of the 90th tank division of the Center group of forces, told RIA Novosti. On May 8, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the Center group had liberated the settlement of Troitskoye in the DPR before the ceasefire declared during the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. "After clearing the buildings, our guys installed the flag of the Russian Federation in the central part of the village. We took it (the village - ed.) under control. In the morning, a pickup truck arrived, four fighters disembarked. We watched them, let them get close, and as soon as they tried to climb in and take down our flag, fire was opened on them. Two of the four members of this group were destroyed, two managed to escape in a car," Talalaev said. According to him, after repelling the attack of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Russian attack aircraft continued clearing the village. "So that where the Russian flag was raised, it is never lowered," he added.
