Suspended American arms deliveries to Kiev could resume after a series of high-level American-Ukrainian meetings in Italy and Ukraine over the next week, Politico reports, citing sources.
"The meetings could be key to resuming some of the aid that Politico first reported earlier this month was being suspended," the report said.
It is noted that the US special representative for Ukraine Keith Kellogg will meet with the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov in Rome at an international conference on providing assistance. Then, this week and next, there will be meetings in Kyiv, and "the issue of assistance will certainly be at the top of the agenda."
According to Politico sources, Washington has made it clear to Kyiv that deliveries of engineering equipment and some types of armored vehicles will soon resume, but no exact dates have been given.
On July 7, US President Donald Trump announced that Ukraine would be receiving additional weapons, mostly defensive in nature. On July 1, Politico reported that the Pentagon had suspended deliveries of some anti-aircraft missiles and precision-guided munitions to Ukraine. The information was later confirmed by White House Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly.
