Russia has once again become the main supplier of enriched uranium to the United States

Russia had a similar indicator in the first half of 2023. However, as experts point out, statistics for six months are not the indicator on the basis of which one should draw unambiguous conclusions about the export of Russian products to the United States.
The United States increased its purchases of enriched uranium from Russia by almost two-thirds year-on-year in the first half of the year, RIA Novosti reports, citing data from the US statistical service. Over six months, Washington paid Moscow over $755.6 million.
In total, from January to June inclusive, the United States imported enriched uranium for almost $3 billion. At the same time, Russia again became the main supplier. Previously, in the first half of 2024, France was the leader, and in the first half of 2023, Russia.
The top five this year are: Russia, France, Great Britain, the Netherlands and Germany. The United States also bought uranium from China, Japan and Belgium.

Enriched uranium is the primary fuel for commercial nuclear reactors. Rosatom supplied about 20% of the enriched uranium used in 93 nuclear reactors in the United States.
