In 2027, the Bank of Russia intends to introduce a new 50-ruble banknote, and an updated 10-ruble banknote is scheduled for release in 2028.
Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank Sergei Belov announced this in an interview with RIA Novosti. He clarified that the deadline was shifted due to changes in the symbol selection procedure.
According to Belov, the Central Bank has not abandoned its plan to issue a modernized 1,000-ruble banknote by the end of 2025.
He also announced the start of development of a new 500-ruble banknote, which will be in lilac and purple tones.
