On June 6, they will bid farewell to an outstanding boxer, a native of the Voronezh region


Honorary citizen of the city of Semiluki, outstanding boxer and renowned trainer Alexey Nikolaevich Bortnikov has died at the age of 93. This was reported by the municipal administration.
Alexey Bortnikov was born in 1933 in the Semiluki District of the Voronezh Region. In 1962, after winning 12 republican championships, at the age of 29, he decided to start a coaching career. Alexey Nikolaevich trained children at the Trudovye Rezervy sports club and worked with the Georgian youth boxing team, as well as with the USSR junior team. One of his protégés, Dmitry Avdalyan, became a silver medalist at the World Junior Championships.
Several generations of athletes were raised by Bortnikov. His memory will always remain in the hearts of his students, colleagues and all who had the opportunity to communicate with him. The sports community and fellow countrymen of the deceased mourn the loss.
The farewell ceremony for Alexei Bortnikov will take place on Friday, June 6, at 11 a.m. in the sacred church dedicated to Saint Mitrofaniy, Bishop of Voronezh.
