Orhan Keser's book, The Cold Voice, was published by Sancı Publications. Keser's memoir , based on the experiences of his father and family, bears witness to a period. The author portrays the pain, suffering and cruelty experienced by a people through the person of his father.
A call to "surrender" is made to a people who cannot read or write, with leaflets dropped from airplanes. However, a people who are unaware of anything and do not understand why they are under attack are massacred. One of the places where these massacres took place is Çır Stream. Yeresk villagers of Nazımiye are massacred in this stream.
In his foreword, author Murat Kahraman emphasizes that the book has an unusual language and structure. Kahraman uses the following expressions: “The memoir written by Orhan Keser holds a mirror to the memory of a period. When you read Harik’s work, which is as if you were sitting in a village house, with a genuine atmosphere and conversational flavor; extremely plain, understandable and far from exaggeration, if you are going to fall apart like broken pots washed ashore from a shipwreck, that is for sure. He portrays the torment and cruelty experienced by a people in the person of his father. He gushes fresh blood from an old wound. But there is not the slightest anger in his language. Orhan laid a brick in the memory of a people whose memory has been erased and whose history was written by the rulers and those who work under their command.”
Witnessing a period and refreshing the memory, The Cold Voice can be accessed from Sancı Publications, bookstores and the internet.
