Bahçeli: Öcalan kept his promise of being the founding leader and saw the threats in time

Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli issued a written statement following the PKK terrorist organization's arms laying ceremony in Sulaymaniyah.

Regarding the development, Bahçeli said, "Indeed, these are extraordinarily important days for both Turkey and our region."

Referring to the video message published by PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, Bahçeli said, "The founding leadership of the PKK kept its word, stood by its commitments, and foresaw global and regional threats in a timely manner."

Speaking about the DEM Party, Bahçeli said, "The DEM Party has maintained a sensible and responsible political line, sincerely adhering to the goal of a terror-free Turkey, and has taken its place on the side of the thousand-year-old brotherhood with balanced and accurate words and assessments."

Bahçeli's statement is as follows:

“Our country on one side and the surrounding regions on the other are in a state of gradual progress and transition to a brand new and hopeful era.

Turkey is on the verge of salvation from the scourge of separatist terrorism, whose history has been riveted by violence and brutality for nearly half a century.

In accordance with and in support of the “Call for Peace and Democratic Society” that came to the fore with the February 27 Imrali statement, the separatist terrorist organization PKK convened its 12th congress on May 5-7, 2025, and declared that it had dissolved its organizational existence and laid down arms.

Our President and his government, who have embraced the determination of a "Türkiye Without Terrorism", which has become a state policy, from the very beginning and made every effort, have embraced the process until the end.

The Nationalist Movement Party and the People's Alliance have preserved their political acumen and resistance to struggle without being swayed by any provocation or subversive suggestions.

The goal of a terror-free Türkiye has made progress with solid and healthy moves.

Effective today, the separatist terrorist organization has begun to surrender its weapons in groups, and at the same time, historic developments have begun to mark the end of a dark era.
