Ghusl is performed by taking water into the mouth and rinsing it up to the throat, sniffing water into the nose and washing the entire body in a way that leaves no dry place. The procedures listed here are the obligatory acts of ghusl according to the Hanafis. If one of them is missing, the ghusl is invalid. In addition to these obligatory acts of ghusl, there are also sunnahs.
Performing the sunnahs, the ghusl is performed as follows:
A person who wants to perform ablution makes the intention and says Bismillah. He washes his hands, cleans his body if there is any impurity/material impurity, and washes his private parts. Then, he rinses his mouth thoroughly with his right hand three times, then he sniffs water into his nose three times and cleans it, and completes his ablution as if he were performing ablution for prayer.
