Turkish scientists produced in the laboratory: There is nothing they cannot eat

The " black soldier fly ", which consumes many wastes from market waste to wholesale waste, from restaurant waste to fish waste within hours, is produced in the Biology Department of the OMU Faculty of Science. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Oğuzhan Yanar and his team are conducting R&D studies on these produced insects. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Oğuzhan Yanar stated that peeled potatoes, eggplants, moldy cheese or spoiled food can be returned to nature thanks to this insect while cooking at home, and added that a very high-quality fertilizer is also obtained from the insect.

"IT IS AN INSECT THAT DEVELOPED COUNTRIES IN PARTICULAR PAY ATTENTION TO AND TAKE HIGH IMPORTANCE"
Providing information about their studies, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Oğuzhan Yanar said, "We have a study on insects in terms of eliminating waste, especially organic waste, which is current in the world. This species is extremely promising for us in terms of transforming waste in the future, even turning it into zero waste. We are currently continuing our R&D studies in our laboratory. Our applications such as plant cultivation and greenhouse applications continue with our valuable professors at the faculty of agriculture. This insect is an insect that especially developed countries focus on and attach great importance to. Their waste consumption rates are very high. There is almost nothing they cannot eat in terms of organic waste. They can consume everything organic that comes to mind, such as potato peels and inedible fish heads. The beauty of the species is this; You consume organic waste and then you obtain a very high-quality fertilizer. In addition, insects can be used as feed in chicken or fish farming. They can be evaluated as pet food. R&D studies are ongoing. We want to use this insect simultaneously and in a coordinated manner in the world. "We will not be able to dispose of all our waste, but let's at least recycle the waste we can save," he said.

"THERE IS NO OTHER LIVING GROUP THAT CAN EAT SOME FOODS AT THE SAME TIME"
Addressing local governments, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yanar said, "We especially want local governments to listen to us. We make a feed ration when feeding the insect. For example, there is no other living group that can eat cauliflower leaves, rotten oranges, rotten tangerines, and fish internal organs at the same time. We have proven with our scientific analyses that all of their feces turn into perfect fertilizer."

WORK CONTINUES
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Oğuzhan Yanar and his team continue to conduct R&D and master's thesis studies on this subject with the full support of Ondokuzmayıs University Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın and Faculty of Science Dean Prof. Dr. Erkan Yalçın.
