French Cinema days at CerModern

The Institut français Ankara, in collaboration with Cermodern, is bringing beloved French cinema to Ankara moviegoers at Cermodern on Thursday evenings. The event, which screens films in their original French with Turkish subtitles, kicks off on July 3rd with the film " Making Of ."
As part of the event, which will showcase a special selection of French cinema, the film " Just a Few Days / Quelques jours pas plus, " directed by Julie Navarro, will be screened this evening. Here are the other films in the selection, which will be shown outdoors:
" NO DOGS AND NO ITALIENS ALLOWED / INTERDIT AUX CHIENS AT AUX ITALIENS " (Thursday, July 24)
The film is directed by award-winning director Alain Ughetto It follows the journey of the Ughetto family, living in northern Italy in the early 20th century. As life in their hometown of Ughettera becomes increasingly difficult, the Ughettos dream of moving abroad to start over. Legend has it that Luigi Ughetto crossed the Alps and began a new life in France. This bold move forever changed the fate of his beloved family.

" KOMPROMAT " (Thursday, July 31)
In Kompromat, directed by Jérôme Salle, Mathieu, a feisty and dedicated diplomat, accepts a position in Irkutsk as president of the Siberian Alliance Française. He hopes the move will be beneficial for his family and his struggling marriage, but organizing cultural events and supporting Mathieu's artistic expression soon puts him at odds with the local authorities. Accused of a horrific crime, he soon discovers that someone has fabricated a case with Russia's FSB, setting him up.

" 400 COUPS / LES QUATRE CENTS COUPS" (August 7)
Directed by François Truffaut, The 400 Blows tells the story of 12-year-old Antoine, living in Paris in the early 1950s. His family problems and frequent humiliation by his teacher prevent Antoine from finding peace either at home or at school. One day, after skipping school with a friend for not doing his homework, Antoine sees his mother with another man on the street. Unable to recover from the shock, Antoine returns to school and lies about his mother's death as an excuse for not doing his homework. The moment his parents arrive safe and sound, the truth is revealed, and Antoine is temporarily suspended. Now afraid to go home for fear of his family, Antoine and his close friend decide to escape to the seaside. Their goal is to make money by stealing and selling his father's typewriter. However, things don't go as planned.

" ON THE DARK ROADS / SUR LES CHEMINS NOIRS" (August 14)
Pierre is a renowned explorer and writer, regularly traveling the world in search of adventure. One evening, he drunkenly climbs the facade of a hotel and falls several floors. The impact sends him into a deep coma. When he wakes up, barely able to stand, he decides, against everyone's will, to explore France on foot, along forgotten paths. A unique journey transcends time, as the player follows Sylvain Tesson in pursuit of the hyper-rural.

" BORGO " (August 22)
Directed by Stéphane Demoustier, Borgo focuses on a slice of life from Melissa, a 32-year-old veteran prison guard. Settling in Corsica with her husband and two young children, Melissa finds a fresh start. She begins working in a prison a little different from the others. Here, it's said that the guards are watched by the inmates. Melissa's integration is facilitated when a seemingly influential young inmate, Saveriu, takes her under his wing. However, after her release, Saveriu reconnects with Melissa, asking her for a favor… And so, a devious mechanism begins to operate.
