145,000 people lost their jobs in the ready-made clothing sector

CHP Deputy Ömer Fethi Gürer noted that the ready-made clothing sector has suffered serious losses in the last year, stating that 145,000 workers have lost their jobs and exports have fallen by $3.3 billion.
Gürer stated that the textile sector, which is crucial for Turkey, is also facing a negative outlook in the international market. He said, "While the EU, a key market for textiles, increased its ready-made clothing purchases by 16 percent and the US by 10 percent, the sector experienced a 6.5 percent decline in exports in the first six months of 2025 compared to 2024. This is the clearest indication that the sector is beginning to lose its main markets."
