Global crude steel production falls

The World Steel Association (Worldsteel), headquartered in Brussels, announced January crude steel production data. Accordingly, global crude steel production decreased by 4.4 percent in the first month of the year compared to the same month in 2024, falling to 151.4 million tons.
It was noteworthy that the world's largest steel producer, China, saw its production decrease by 5.6 percent to 81.9 million tons in January. Japan's production also fell by 6.6 percent to 6.8 million tons.
While crude steel production in the US increased by 1.2 percent to 6.6 million tons in January, Germany's production was calculated to decrease by 8.8 percent to 2.8 million tons.
Crude steel production in Brazil was estimated to have fallen by 4.5 percent to 2.6 million tons in January, and in Russia by 0.6 percent to 6 million tons.
During the period in question, India's production increased by 6.8 percent to 13.6 million tons, while Iran's production decreased by 24.1 percent to 2.2 million. Turkey's crude steel production decreased by 1.4 percent compared to the same period last year to 3.2 million tons in January.
