Istanbul Airport became the busiest air cargo hub in Europe, handling 1.97 million tons of cargo in 2024.

In a post shared on the social media account of the airport operator İGA, the following statement was used: "According to the 2024 Annual Traffic Report of the Airports Council International (ACI Europe), we are the busiest air cargo airport in Europe and handled 1.97 million tons of cargo. This figure corresponds to a 39.6 percent increase compared to the previous year."
