Minimum pension regulation 2025: How much will the minimum pension be, was it passed by the Parliament?

Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan answered questions from reporters following the Cabinet Meeting held at the Presidential Complex under the presidency of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. In response to a press member’s question about whether the lowest retirement pension figure would be increased, Işıkhan said the following: “When the June inflation figure is determined on July 3, the CPI for the first 6 months of the year will be revealed. We will hold the necessary meetings under the presidency of our Minister of Treasury and Finance and Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz. Then, the figure regarding the issue will be presented to the Parliament very soon. The discretion belongs to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. Our Group Chairman Abdullah Güler also made the necessary statements regarding the issue. Hopefully, it will be beneficial for our retirees.”

When asked whether the lowest retirement salary would be increased, Güler reported that they held meetings with Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan and Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek under the direction of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, under the presidency of Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz. Expressing that they requested information for the impact analysis on this issue, Güler stated that the inflation difference for civil servants and retirees would be revealed with the announcement of TÜİK data on July 3. Reminding that the lowest retirement salary is 14 thousand 469 liras, Güler conveyed that this figure concerns 3 million 716 thousand retirees. Güler said, "We will evaluate the figures and rates with impact analyses. I estimate that our bill will be discussed in the Planning and Budget Commission on Thursday. After the figure is announced, we will make our final evaluation and clarify the figure. The regulation will be added to this proposal."

The lowest pension had increased to 14,469 lira with the latest increase. If June inflation is announced according to expectations, the lowest pension may increase from 14,469 lira to 16,921 lira.

The proposal regarding the lowest retirement salary regulation has not yet been submitted to the parliamentary committee. In order for the regulation to be submitted to the committee, the June inflation data to be announced by TÜİK on July 3rd is awaited. The figures for civil servant and retiree increases will become clear with the 6-month CPI data to be announced. Following the figures to be revealed, the new figure regarding the lowest retirement salary regulation will be determined with the work to be carried out by the government and will be submitted to the parliamentary committee. In order for the lowest retirement salary to increase, the law must be prepared, passed by the parliamentary committee and published in the Official Gazette.
