Özgür Çelik, who was suspended from office, said: CHP is the people's house, it cannot be taken over.

The CHP's Istanbul Provincial Congress, held in October 2023, has been canceled. The Istanbul 45th Civil Court of First Instance ruled that CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik, the main and alternate members of the Provincial Executive Board, and the main and alternate members of the Provincial Disciplinary Board be suspended from duty as a precautionary measure.

Following the decision, Özgür Çelik made his first statement on social media. Çelik's post included the following:

"My dear companions, my phones are locked. I cannot return calls and messages. I am transferring to our Istanbul Provincial Directorate to monitor and manage the process. The Republican People's Party is the people, the people's home, the family home. It cannot be surrendered!"
