Stellantis and Mistral AI strengthen their strategic partnership

According to a statement from the company, Stellantis and Mistral AI have been working together for more than a year on artificial intelligence-powered projects in vehicle engineering, fleet data analysis, in-house vehicle sales and production.
Mistral AI’s expertise in large language models (LLMs) helps Stellantis rapidly analyze large datasets to improve product satisfaction and manufacturing quality, while also reducing product development times. The latest initiative, a next-generation AI-powered in-car assistant, acts as a voice-activated user guide for drivers, enabling conversational interactions. The collaboration between the two companies highlights Stellantis’ approach to rapidly adopting the latest advances in AI to help accelerate efficiency, adaptability, and customer-centric innovation.
The partnership leverages Mistral AI’s LLM and AI-driven automation expertise to embed AI into multiple systems and applications across Stellantis, improving data analytics and enhancing customer engagement.
Stellantis and Mistral AI are working together to develop an AI-powered in-car assistant that allows drivers to interact with their vehicles using natural language. The assistant acts as a real-time, voice-activated user guide, with customers able to ask questions about vehicle features, troubleshooting or warning messages, or receive instant guidance through a chat-style interaction. The assistant will be continuously updated and adaptable to models from Stellantis brands, providing a seamless and intuitive experience.
Apart from the in-car assistant, Stellantis and Mistral AI are investigating different AI-powered initiatives such as Bill of Materials (BOM) Smart Data, Vehicle Feedback Data Analysis, "Club Stellantis" Virtual Assistant and AI-Powered Anomaly Detection.
BOM Smart Data, an AI-powered tool proprietary to Stellantis, facilitates the analysis of complex parts databases, while a chatbot powered by Mistral AI interacts with the company’s product data to help engineers identify, compare and optimize parts selection.
AI in Vehicle Feedback Data Analysis automates the processing of data from development fleets and surveys, quickly identifying trends and corrective actions, improving product quality and customer satisfaction.
The "Club Stellantis" Virtual Assistant stands out as a chatbot that helps Stellantis employees in France purchase company vehicles.
Finally, with AI-Powered Anomaly Detection, Stellantis leverages Mistral AI’s edge computing models to detect manufacturing defects in real time, allowing operators to take corrective actions before components are released to market, improving quality control and efficiency.
"STELLANTIS'S BRAVE APPROACH TO TECHNOLOGY"Stellantis Chief Engineering and Technology Officer Ned Curic, whose views were included in the statement, stated that there are many players in the field of artificial intelligence.
Curic said that they were particularly pleased to partner with Mistral AI, emphasizing that the company has a strong ability to adapt quickly and achieve meaningful results in a highly collaborative manner. "Together, we are exploring the potential of artificial intelligence in different areas to improve our product and customer experience and provide real benefits."
Mistral AI Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder Arthur Mensch also underlined that the partnership is an important step in their commitment to making GenAI more accessible and valuable.
“Stellantis’ bold approach to technology and its ability to integrate advanced AI into the real-world driving experience make it the ideal partner to demonstrate how Mistral AI’s versatile solutions can reinvent mobility and support engineers in their work,” Mensch said.
