Drugs detected in products of a confectionery brand in the Netherlands

A German-based confectionery brand announced that some of its products sold in the Netherlands contained narcotics. Following this, the brand has recalled all of its stock in the country as a precaution.

The Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) noted that several people, including several members of a family, felt unwell after consuming 1 kilogram of the brand's cola-containing product.

The NVWA reported that some people had experienced 'dizzy spells' after consuming the product. Following this, the NVWA announced that after examination, drugs were found in samples taken from the sweets.

While it has been reported that narcotics have been found in three packages so far, the brand announced that it has decided to recall all of its stocks in the country as a precaution.

The brand also reported that the recall is limited to the Netherlands and does not affect other countries.
