Gürsel Tekin resigned from the CHP like this

The Istanbul 45th Civil Court of First Instance ruled to dismiss Özgür Çelik and the current administration in the lawsuit filed to cancel the CHP's Istanbul Provincial Congress held on October 8, 2023. A delegation consisting of Gürsel Tekin, Zeki Şen, Hasan Babacan, Müjdat Gürbüz, and Erkan Narsap was temporarily appointed as trustees to the Istanbul Provincial Presidency.

Gürsel Tekin announced his resignation from the CHP with a post he made from his X account on February 13, 2024.

Tekin used the following expressions in his statement:

"To my dear nation and my companions,

The fundamental principles of the Republican People's Party (CHP) are enshrined in its bylaws and program. Unfortunately, over time, the CHP has distanced itself from its identity as a Kemalist and social democratic party that aims for contemporary civilization, to be in power in Türkiye, and to serve the people.

There are no objective conditions, merits or qualifications,

Positions and positions are distributed through internal party ties, groupings, and teamwork,

People who work for the party and strive to bring the party to power are excluded,

In Türkiye, intra-party power struggles are preferred over power struggles.

Party law and the rights of our party workers are ignored, the Headquarters does not even comply with its own rules and instructions, and the labor of people who work with confidence in party law and statements is usurped.

Instead of a spirit of camaraderie formed by ideology, principle or thought, it has turned into a structure in which cronies, spouses, friends and relatives are the determining factors at every level.

This situation is painful and saddening for me, who has had the honor of serving in every position of the party and who has always worked on the streets and among the people to come to power in Türkiye.

For this reason, I am resigning from the Republican People's Party, to which I have dedicated my life since my youth and whose principles I have sealed in my heart, with great sadness, because the principles I believe in and live for dictate this, and because I no longer have the opportunity to work within the current structure.

I will continue to work for the principles I have dedicated my life to. I respectfully announce this to the public."
