I’m Sure Trump and His Family Business Won’t Profit a Dime from His $5M ‘Gold Card’ U.S.-Citizenship Scheme
From Reuters:
Trump told reporters he will replace the “EB-5” immigrant investor visa program, which allows foreign investors of large sums of money that create or preserve U.S. jobs to become permanent residents, with a so-called “gold card.”
“We are going to be selling a gold card,” Trump said. “We are going to be putting a price on that card of about $5 million,” he added.
“It’s going to give you green card privileges plus it’s going to be a route to [American] citizenship, and wealthy people would be coming into our country by buying this card,” Trump said, adding that details about the scheme will come out in two weeks.
I figure he’s about ten days away from selling boner pills on YouRube ... er ... YouTube.
Trump added it is possible Russian oligarchs could qualify for the gold cards, when asked by a journalist if those people would be eligible. “Yeah, possibly. Hey. I know some Russian oligarchs that are very nice people,” he said.
Just what this country needs—a wash-and-wear spin cycle for dirty rubles run out of the State Department.
Please, Mr. President. Do go on. Who are these very nice Volga Bagmen?
And can we round them all up? Soon?
I remember long ago when Telly Savalas, riding high at the time as Kojak, used to do commercials for something called the Players Club International card, which was basically a means by which folks from Grand Rapids or North Platte could go to Las Vegas or Atlantic City and behave like high rollers on the cheap. It was glitzy and tacky, and it functioned mainly so that Midwest pensioners could gussy up their photo albums with “We are there!” photos from the Sands or Caesars. Come to think of it, I wonder if the president had one of these?
Anyway, these new things are going at $5M a pop, and I’m sure that neither the president nor his family business will profit by a dime from this scheme.
Trump said sales of the new visa, a high-price version of the traditional green card, would bring in job creators and could be used to reduce the US national deficit.
Yes, and I am the Tsar of all the Russias.
The Republican president, who has made the deportation of millions of undocumented migrants a priority of his second term, said the new card would be a route to highly prized US citizenship.
“A lot of people are going to want to be in this country, and they’ll be able to work and provide jobs and build companies,” Trump said. “It’ll be people with money.”
Sales of the cards would start in about two weeks, Trump added.
“We’ll be able to sell maybe a million of these cards. We have it all worked out from a legal standpoint,” Trump added.
What are the odds on that?
