Broadway admitted that she had a hard time using the technique for the first 3 days and said, "I had a hard time getting used to it because I surprised my body, but I lost 19 kilos in 5 months. I completely quit energy drinks, which was a big step for me."

Broadway stated that her energy has increased since she avoided caffeine consumption, and added that her intestinal health has improved.

Emphasizing that intermittent fasting should be made a lifestyle for a healthy weight loss process, the young woman also stated that she felt more self-confident thanks to this method.

WHAT IS INTERMITTENT FASTING?

Intermittent fasting (IF) is a diet that involves restricting your eating during certain periods of time and fasting during other times. This approach involves eating at certain times of the day or week and fasting the rest of the time. There are different ways to do it, such as fasting for 16 hours and eating for 8 hours (16/8 method) or eating low-calorie for 2 days a week (5:2 method).

Intermittent fasting has been reported to have positive effects, particularly on metabolism, weight control, insulin sensitivity, and cardiovascular health. According to the Mayo Clinic, intermittent fasting practices can lead to improvements in health indicators such as blood sugar, weight, blood cholesterol, blood pressure, and chronic inflammation.

However, these effects are generally short-term and more research is needed on the long-term health consequences. Some studies suggest that intermittent fasting practices may have limited long-term sustainability and may have adverse effects in some individuals.

WHO IS IT NOT SUITABLE FOR?

Intermittent fasting is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women, those with a history of eating disorders, those with severe metabolic diseases, and those who have difficulty staying hungry for more than 16 hours.
