Şahan Gökbakar reacted to Fenerbahçe coach Jose Mourinho, who said "I have to thank the referee. Because in the position I mentioned, everyone in the other bench was jumping like monkeys" at the press conference after the derby, with a post he made on his X account.

The comedian tagged the Turkish Football Federation and wrote, "Would you consider punishing Mourinho for saying that the Galatasaray bench was jumping like monkeys?"

Gökhan Özoğuz, the lead singer of the Athena band, responded to Şahan Gökbakar's post as follows:

"Why is it because you don't have a position in the match? The phrase 'jumping like a monkey' is not penalized because it is a metaphor, but if the same person is punished for swearing like a woman, wagging his finger and threatening the referee, we will think about it."

Meanwhile, Galatasaray Club announced that it will file a criminal complaint against Mourinho with the prosecutor's office and will also file a complaint with UEFA and FIFA.

Fenerbahçe Club also stated, "Trying to portray this statement as racism is a completely malicious approach. We would like to inform the public that we will use our legal rights regarding this pathetic slander that is made in order to take the competition off the field, change the agenda and manipulate it."
