'Nutrition Time' program in Beyoğlu: 3,000 children will benefit

The "Lunch Time" program, implemented by the Beyoğlu Municipality last year, resumed this year with the reopening of schools. The program aims to reach nearly 3,000 students in Beyoğlu. Lunch boxes prepared as part of the program will be delivered to families through designated neighborhood shelters. Beyoğlu Deputy Mayor Sefer Karaahmetoğlu visited the soup kitchen with the start of the new term to inspect the final preparations. He consulted with staff and food engineers and reviewed the menu contents.
Balanced nutrition for childrenAs part of the Nutrition Time Project, menus are prepared under the supervision of dietitians and food engineers, based on students' daily protein, carbohydrate, and vitamin needs. Teams meticulously working to provide healthy food will regularly deliver lunchboxes to families every day, supporting children's development, starting with the start of the new school year.

Beyoğlu Municipality is the second municipality to implement this project. Our municipal staff delivers our nutrition to neighborhood mansions in the bags you see here. Mothers pick up the food and deliver it to their children without any logo or municipality label."
Beyoğlu Municipality Food Engineer Teyfik Gündeş also provided information about the products included in the Nutrition Time package, saying, "We give every child a piece of fruit every day. These are our standard products. Our pastries here are also standard: mixed sandwiches, pastries, and buttered brioche bread. These four items reach children. Our fruit, fruit juice, and milk are also standard items. Of course, our fruit varieties change daily. We package them accordingly."
What is the Feeding Time Project?The Feeding Hour Project, launched to ensure that every child in need has access to a free, healthy meal, was first implemented in Beylikdüzü. Beyoğlu Municipality collaborated with Beylikdüzü Municipality to implement the project in Beyoğlu. As part of this initiative, the Beyoğlu Municipality's existing soup kitchen was renovated, increasing its capacity. The number of equipment and personnel were also adjusted to ensure the smooth operation of the project. With the protocol signed between Beyoğlu Mayor İnan Güney and Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık in 2024, the Feeding Hour Project was also implemented in Beyoğlu.
