The official surveys reflected the dissolution

The AKP-MHP government, which has been unable to produce policies that will gain the approval of the public and has no more stories to tell the public, could not be saved by the “resolution” process, the constitutional debate and the illusion of success in foreign policy. According to public opinion polls, while the rate of those who want early elections increases every month, the AKP has anchored itself in the second party position. Citizens who are not convinced by the IMM investigations think that the keeping of CHP’s presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu in prison is a political issue, not a legal one.
Yöneylem Research asked 2,044 people about political issues between May 19-22 this month for the "Turkey Politics Survey." Only 27.5 percent of the participants answered yes to the question, "Do you find the allegations against Ekrem İmamoğlu reflected in the press convincing?" The rate of those who said "No" was 55.8, while 17.7 percent said "No answer." This rate is 20.8 percent among AKP voters and 27.4 percent among MHP voters. It was 77.1 percent among DEM Party voters.
Participants in the survey were also asked, “Do you evaluate the cases against Ekrem İmamoğlu as legal or political?” Only 27.8 percent said “Legal.” The rate of those who answered “Political” was 56.8. The answer “No answer” was given by 15.4 percent.
The answers given to the question, “If there were a parliamentary election this Sunday, who would you vote for?” also drew attention. After the undecided voters were distributed, it was seen that the AKP came in second with 31 percent and the CHP came in first with 36.5 percent.
One of the most striking points in the survey was the issue of early elections, which the opposition constantly brought up and the government persistently avoided. The number of people who said “I am in favor of early elections” has been increasing continuously since June 2024. This rate, which was 43.3 percent in June 2024, rose to 26.9 percent in January 2025, 53.4 percent in April, and 55.5 percent in May. “Preferences for the second round of the presidential election” were also measured. Accordingly, CHP presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is being held in prison, outperformed President Erdoğan by 8 points. The rate of those who answered İmamoğlu to this question was 48 percent, while the rate of those who answered Erdoğan was 40.6 percent.
