Big surprise in the Turkish Cup! Historic victory

In the 3rd week match of Ziraat Turkish Cup Group A, Fatih Karagümrük and İskenderunspor faced each other.
Winning the match played at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium 2-1, the 2nd League team İskenderunspor pulled off a big surprise by pushing the Super League teams Rizespor and Alanyaspor out of the cup. The 2nd League team finished second after Trabzonspor and achieved the success of advancing to the quarter-finals for the first time in its history.
Iskenderunspor drew 1-1 away against Ankaragücü in their first match in Group A of the Turkish Cup, and 2-2 at home against Trabzonspor in their second match. Defeating Fatih Karagümrük away, Iskenderunspor managed to advance from the group with 5 points.
TWO GOALS IN 7 MINUTESThe guest team made a fast start to the match and took a 1-0 lead with a goal scored by Ulaş Zengin in the 5th minute. Erdem Can Polat scored İskenderunspor's 2nd goal in the 7th minute, making the score 2-0. The first half of the match ended with the guest team leading 2-0.
Fatih Karagümrük reduced the difference to 1 in the 51st minute with Muhammed Mert scoring a penalty kick: 1-2. There were no more goals in the remaining minutes and İskenderunspor won the match 2-1.
After this result, İskenderunspor increased its points to 5 and finished the group in 2nd place and advanced to the quarter finals. Fatih Karagümrük, which had 3 points, finished the group in 5th place and said goodbye to the tournament.
