Galatasaray bids farewell to Dries Mertens

Galatasaray issued a thank you message to Belgian footballer Dries Mertens, who will not be in the squad next season.

The farewell message of the red and yellows to Mertens is as follows:

"Thank you Dries. Some farewells are beyond words, when he arrived three years ago, Dries Mertens was not only a football player but also a real leader, a big brother, an example. He was the man who changed the game with his courage, intelligence and confident stance on the field."

Dries Mertens, who played his last match for Galatasaray, celebrated his goal.

The Belgian midfielder, who has completed his third season with the red-yellow club and will leave the team after this competition, scored a penalty in the 17th minute against Başakşehir.

Playing in his 52nd official match of the season, Mertens celebrated his sixth goal. Having scored five goals in the league, Mertens also has a goal in the UEFA Europa League.

On the other hand, the goal was announced by Mertens' wife Katrin Kerkhofs. After the goal announcement, Kerkhofs said "I love you" to her husband.

Galatasaray, who became champions of the Trendyol Super League for three consecutive times and for the 25th time in total, closed the season with a 2-0 win against RAMS Başakşehir.

Star striker Osimhen scored the other goal in the match in the 81st minute, taking the Nigerian forward's league goal tally to 26.
