Hot, dry conditions prompt fire ban within London and surrounding counties

The hot, dry weather that is expected to last all week has prompted officials in London and surrounding counties to issue fire bans.
That means bonfires, campfires, burn barrels, outdoor fireplaces, fire tables and chimineas or other fires are not permitted.
"This ban will remain in effect until further notice. All active burn permits are suspended, and no new permits will be issued until the ban is lifted," city officials said.
"For the duration of the ban, the London Fire Department will not issue any display fireworks permits."
The ban is in place within London, as well as Elgin, Oxford and Middlesex County.
"This fire ban is being imposed due to the extreme dryness of vegetation in the area and shall remain in effect until further notice," Elgin County officials said.
