Meghan Markle has returned to social media to share how she spent her birthday on Monday. The former working royal celebrated turning 44 in style as she is seen pictured surrounded by family and friends in her latest Instagram post.

Taking to Instagram, Meghan revealed that she had ended the evening with a special meal at a Los Angeles-based restaurant called Funke. Alongside a picture of herself blowing out some candles on a cake, Meghan wrote: "Blowing out the candles on a beautiful 24 hours, and thanking my husband, friends and family for making it so special.

"To those of you I don’t know, but who send love every day - thank you so much. Please know I feel it and appreciate it", followed by a red-heart emoji.

She then added a special mention for the restaurant, adding: "And just to get a little foodie on you... this dinner last night at @funke_la with the culinary mastery of @evanfunke and his team is in the top five meals of my life. Extraordinary [spaghetti-pasta emoji] Thank you for a standout dining experience."

Meghan's latest post came after her account had remained silent since July 4, with her previous post showing off her bakery skills in honour of Independence Day.

Although Meghan remained silent on social media on August 4, the day of her birthday, her brand As Ever posted in honour of their founder. As Ever uploaded a new black-and-white image of the Duchess wearing a dark dress and a light fedora, writing in the caption: "Celebrating the woman behind it all. She pours her heart, vision, and magic touch into every detail, and today, we raise a glass to her! Happy birthday to our founder @meghan."

Following the post, Meghan was criticised for wishing herself a happy birthday through her brand's account.

The Royal Family's social media platforms also remained silent on Monday, but a host of Meghan's friends did post in honour of her special day.

Alongside a few throwback posts of herself with Meghan, including one of them in the buy streets of New York, her former Suits co-star Abigail Spencer wrote: "As glorious as the day I met you. Champagne in human form. A creature unlike any other. Thank you for being a sister in this life, and beyond. Words can’t capture. From the rooftops."

Abigail's birthday also feel the on the same day, with the actress also celebrating her 44th birthday on Monday. She then added: "So grateful for your life, @meghan [gold-sparkle emoji] Thanks for saving mine. Love, Abs. 44/4. 8/4/81 [dancing-girls emoji]."
